Scott Rogo
From The Red Pill
D. Scott Rogo (1950-1990) was one of the most widely respected researchers in the field of parapsychology and paranormal investigations. Rogo's life was tragically cut short when he was murdered, aged 40, in 1990.
History
Rogo attended the University of Cincinnati, and also San Fernando Valley State College, from which he graduated in 1972 with a B.A. in music. Rogo played for the San Diego Symphony and also occasionally for the Honolulu Symphony, on the English Horn and oboe.
Scott Rogo's mother says that her son became interested in psychic phenomenon after an out-of-body experience (OBE). Even before graduation he had become an earnest and intelligent researcher and author into paranormal subjects. His classic book on otherworldly music NAD, was published in 1972, when Rogo was only 22 years of age. Rogo then served as a visiting researcher at both the Psychical Research Foundation in North Carolina and the Division of Parapsychology and Psychophysics of Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He published scientific papers on research into the Ganzfeld, and was also active in field investigations of hauntings and poltergeists.
Rogo was a leading authority on the history of psychical research, and published books more than two dozen books in his short life. According to George Hansen, "there are only three or four people in the world who might be considered to be in his league. The breadth of his historical knowledge of the field was unsurpassed." Rogo was also a consulting editor for Fate, to which he contributed a regular column on parapsychology.
On August 18th, 1990, Rogo was found stabbed to death by a neighbor, who became suspicious after Rogo's sprinkler system had been running for two days. John Battista, a friend of Rogo's, was convicted in 1992 of second-degree murder, and is currently serving a fifteen-year to life sentence.
In 2005, Anomalist Books reissued seven of Scott Rogo's books.
