John Titor

John Titor was the name used by an individual who claimed to be a time traveller from the year 2036, who posted on several Internet messageboards during 2000/2001. Titor made many predictions about events in the near future (within ten to fifteen years) including that of an impending American civil war and nuclear war in the Middle East. Titor announced on March 24, 2001 that he would be leaving this time and returning to his in 2036. He has never been heard from again. The identity and providence of the messages from John Titor remains an unsolved mystery.

Titor's Future World
Titor's description of the U.S. in 2036 is a post-apocalyptic scenario, with the whole world having been through a nuclear war. The new capital of the United States in 2036, Titor alleges, is in Omaha.
Validity of Predictions
Titor's final posts were in 2001, although he allegedly left behind a videotape of his departure (that is regrettably lost), not to mention that the five-year-old John Titor is allegedly currently growing up in Florida. Titor left behind a thriving community of true believers in his claims.
Some say that Titor's claims have been proven false by the fact that he predicted the beginnings of civil war in 2004. However, others say that his predictions were amazingly prescient of the current divide in the U.S. over the 'War on Terror', the Patriot Act and other controversial acts of the Bush administration, considering he wrote in 2000 to March 2001, prior to the sweeping social changes wrought by the September 11 attacks.
