Hello!
I have a topic for discussion: WHAT has made GOLD "valuable"? Besides the fact that it is pretty, why would it be valuable to the ancients? Its a soft metal not suited for tools or weapons, so what purpose would it serve?
Myself, I think it was the "ultimate fuel source" and the ancients had a simple method to refine it and use it for a fuel, it was a bit more abundant, but has mostly been used up (or hoarded, as folks started to run out). It was the "fossil fuel" of the atlantian period.
Any other ideas why gold was so important? maybe Im missing the obvious, but i cant really see a good logical reason that gold became precious besides the fact that it is pretty. Someone set me straight...
