Allison DuBois
From The Red Pill
Allison DuBois (born January 24, 1972) is among the world's best-known mediums, with a hit television series based on her life story (Medium, starring Patricia Arquette). DuBois claims that her ability to 'talk to the dead' has been of assistance in solving crimes, and that she has worked actively with both the Texas Rangers and the Glendale, Arizona police department on various cases.

Life
DuBois was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and claims that she became aware of her psychic abilities when she was 6 years old. An event when she was eleven shaped her future path in solving crimes - one day when she was out riding her bike in her home neighbourhood in Pheonix, two young men attempted to entice her into the car they were driving. She says a voice suddenly ordered her to get away as fast as possible, which she attributes to one of her 'guides'.
She graduated from Corona del Sol High School in Tempe in 1990. While in college, she worked as an intern at the district attorney's office in Phoenix. She graduated from Arizona State University with a B.A. in political science with a minor in history.
Dubois first called 'afterlife' researcher Dr Gary Schwartz in 2001, after seeing him on a "Dateline" NBC segment with John Edward on paranormal powers, because she wanted to see how good her "gift" really was. She spent four years participating in various tests at the University of Arizona with Schwartz, the Director of The VERITAS Research Project at the school's Human Energy Systems Lab. Schwartz came to the conclusion that DuBois - and other psychics - truly had psychic abilities: "Anyone who's looked closely at the evidence can't help but come to the conclusion that there is something very real going on here."
In late 2005 Allison DuBois and Dr Schwartz had a very public falling out, apparently due to Dr Schwartz releasing a book about his research with DuBois (The Truth About Medium) with DuBois stating on her website in October 2005 that "one person who has been included on shows with me that I do not endorse is Dr Gary Schwartz. I was disappointed to find out that the four years that I spent in the lab for "science" are, in my view, being misused by Dr. Schwartz -- even after I expressed my disapproval." Dr Schwartz responded on the VERITAS website, listing 11 facts "that unfortunately conflict with the “story” portrayed on Ms. Allison DuBois’ website".
Medium
DuBois became a household name in 2005 when a hit television series based on her life was aired by NBC. Medium originated from Paramount Television's desire to continue its relationship with Kelsey Grammer after his show Frasier ended. Grammer was interested in a reality show called Oracles, in which five onstage seers would give readings to audience members. DuBois was one of the mediums brought in to audition. The president of Paramount, Gary Hart, was so impressed with DuBois that he pitched her to producer Glenn Gordon Caron (Moonlighting) as the basis of a drama series.
Skepticism
Skeptics such as James Randi, Ray Hyman and the Two Percent Company have been critical of the claims of both Dr Gary Schwartz and Allison DuBois. There is also some dispute over DuBois' claims regarding her crime solving partnership with police and the Texas Rangers.
